Itinerary

Day 1
Machame Gate to Machame Camp

At the Machame Gate, your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with essential registrations and meeting your team of experienced guides and porters. The first day’s hike guides you through the enchanting rainforest, celebrated for its lush greenery and vibrant flora. Covering approximately 11 kilometers, the trail ascends gradually, establishing a steady pace for your ascent. Your resting point for the night is Machame Camp, nestled at an elevation of around 3,000 meters.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp

After a satisfying breakfast, your journey continues upward, gradually transitioning from the lush rainforest to the expansive moorland. Covering about 5 kilometers, today's trek brings you to the Shira Camp. Positioned at an altitude of approximately 3,800 meters, this camp offers sweeping vistas of the surrounding landscapes.

Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

In today's trek, you'll encounter a unique blend of hurdles and breathtaking vistas as you climb towards Lava Tower, elevating to around 4,600 meters. This ascent to higher altitudes plays a crucial role in your acclimatization process. Following this, your journey continues towards Barranco Camp, nestled at approximately 3,960 meters above sea level. Spanning approximately 10 kilometers, today's hike promises a varied landscape and captivating panoramas throughout your expedition.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Proceeding on your expedition, you'll face the exhilarating ascent of the Barranco Wall, a captivating and unforgettable section of the trail. Spanning around 6 kilometers, today's journey offers a unique blend of challenges and rewards, promising a memorable experience amidst Kilimanjaro's breathtaking landscape.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Prepare for a relatively shorter journey, covering about 4 kilometers, leading to the Barafu Camp. Summit – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and back to Mweka Camp

Today marks the climax of your expedition, offering both formidable challenges and gratifying rewards. Your quest for the summit commences in the predawn hours, embarking on a steep and arduous ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on the African continent, just as the first light of dawn begins to break. Following the celebration of your remarkable achievement, you'll descend to the Mweka Camp, nestled at an altitude of approximately 3,100 meters. This leg of the journey proves to be lengthy and demanding, spanning a total distance of around 18 kilometers.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

On the concluding day of your Machame Route Kilimanjaro Trek, you'll trek from the Mweka Camp to the Mweka Gate, descending through the verdant rainforest zone. This leg of the journey covers approximately 10 kilometers and provides a fresh perspective of the mountainous terrain. Upon arrival at the Mweka Gate, you'll be presented with your summit certificates and have the opportunity to convey your appreciation to your committed guides and porters.
